I am a young professional based out of Washington, D.C. interested in research, writing, politics and economic policy. I'm currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Government at Georgetown University and working as a Consultant to Pew Charitable Trusts' Economic Policy Group. Previously I was a Research and Policy Intern at Demos, a public policy think tank, and an Editorial Intern at The American Prospect magazine. I graduated from McGill University in 2010 where I spent three years on the Dean's List with a 3.7 GPA and graduated with a First Class Honors Bachelor of Arts.
In every job I've held, I've gone above and beyond the requirements of the position to innovate and take on new responsibilities. Most recently I developed and wrote The Balance Sheet, a daily email newsletter on economic news and budgetary policy for The American Prospect. During the tense 2011 budget debates in Congress, it attracted more than 11,000 followers. While working as a Research and Writing Associate at the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, I developed a new youth section of their website. While an editorial intern at The Upstream Journal, I developed "Eye on Ottawa," a column about Canadian development and foreign aid policy which has given me the opportunity to interview Liberal Foreign Affairs Critic Bob Rae and Canada's representative at the World Bank, Marie-Lucie Morin. I've also covered stories and trends before they make the mainstream media, like the controversial withdrawal of federal funding to organizations like KAIROS over their stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
As a Canadian expat, I'm an avid follower of American politics. Coming of age in a recession, I've developed a keen interest in economic policy and make The Financial Times and The Economist required reading. I also enjoy traveling, running half marathons and practicing my French and Spanish language skills.
